England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland: GBE Gay Guys keeps its membership to those countries only, so everyone in the chat is somewhere you could realistically reach by train. It is a mid sized gay group of a few hundred members, big enough to have conversation going but small enough that people recognise each other. Members use it to chat, make friends, swap tips about the scene in their city and, when there is mutual interest, arrange to meet. Whether you are in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast or Dublin, or in a village where the nearest gay bar is an hour away, there are people in similar situations. The admins ask everyone to read the group rules before posting, which is a good sign. Gay groups in the UK that ignore moderation tend to fill up with spam within weeks. Etiquette that works here: introduce yourself with your rough area, keep explicit content out of the main chat unless the rules allow it, ask before messaging privately and respect anyone who says no. 18+ only.
